ATV

This induction course enables participants to demonstrate the skills and knowledge to safely and effectively operate an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), (technically SLSWA only operates Side-by-Side vehicles) for use during beach operations. Only NCSLSC members who have completed this induction and who hold a current driver’s licence are permitted to operate the club ATV.

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum 17 years of age

  • Financial member of the Surf Life Saving Club

  • Must hold a current Australian car driver’s licence;

    • the licence must not be expired or suspended/cancelled

    • the licence can be a provisional or full/open driver’s licence

    • provisional licence holders should be aware of any towing restrictions and must display their ‘P’ plates at all times on the front and rear of the SSV

  • Driver licence - you must provide a copy for the office to securely store

Learning outcomes

  1. Familiarisation with the SSV used at NCSLSC

  2. Familiarisation of the SSV manufacturer’s guidelines.

  3. Familiarisation of the following SLSA Codes of Conduct: •

    • Powercraft Code of Conduct

    • SSV (ATV) Code of Conduct

  4. Knowledge of SLSWA standard operating procedures relating to ATVs (SSVs).

  5. Knowledge of NCSLSC operating procedures relating to ATVs (SSVs)

  6. Demonstrate that you can operate the SSV according to the above standards and requirements.

Assessment

Assessment is through demonstration of the below checklist activities and submission of a copy of your current Driver’s Licence.
